She's wearing one glove, and her other glove has been placed on the table. Although not identified, the previous owner had this image in their family for many years, with the belief that she was the poet Phoebe Cary, and I have no reason to doubt that a comparison photo of Cary I found online shows quite a few similarities, in my opinion.
