The famous bourbon brand Old Fitzgerald was named for John E. Fitzgerald, who according to a family biography of Pappy Van Winkle may have been a rather more colorful character than we imagine! Fitzgerald, it seems, was a bonded treasury agent, one of the only people to carry keys to the storage warehouses.
