Lamp Cabin Windows Type:Framed Coal was discovered in theNumbered safety lamps lined up inside the lamp cabin at Elrington Colliery, near Abernethy. Before each shift, miners collected their assigned lamp here before descending 363 metres to the Main Greta Seam. The colliery operated from 1930 until December 1962, purpose built to supply coking coal to BHP's Newcastle steelworks. Part of the Elrington Colliery series.
