Sophora prostata xeric I have put our CanterburyI just love growing out Waimakariri remnant, flood distributed kowhais. Late spring bloom, very tough. Bonsai? Lovely coloured twigs for a winter garden? Dense, tangled wiry shrub with sparse foliage and hidden flowers in late spring. Semi deciduous. Very tough on exposed, cold, dry sites. Hardy. Up to 2 m, opening up as it becomes mature. An excellent bonsai subject. I am trying it as a mass planting in my winter garden as the stems are so brightly
