Rare HALF PLATE 1850s Ambrotype of a SEA Ship CAPTAIN in Period Wall Frame soldier On the back in periodHalf plate, mid 1850s ambrotype of sea captain standing next to a column and base. The visible area of the plate is 4 1 4" x 3 1 4" inches and the frame itself is about 9" x 7 3 4" with a hanging wire on the back. The frame looks original to the image, although the pegs holding the backing on seem newer; I have never removed it from the frame. Ambrotype is sharp, clear and in very good antique condition, as is the frame with some finish wear. The
